Every year, producers, agricultural associations, corporations, universities, government agencies and countless other across America join together to recognize the contributions of agriculture.
For the past several years, Berks County’s farm community has joined with others across the country to welcome spring and celebrate National Ag Day. This recognition of the hard work farmers do in feeding our country and the world is an important annual event here in county.
This also has been designated the date for Berks Agricultural Resource Network’s annual meeting. Beginning in 2008 at the Berks County Agricultural Center, the annual meeting celebrates a key ingredient to Berks County’s food and fiber industries.
Open House March 19, 2019
The Berks County Agricultural Center will be having an open house to discuss "Is it time to locate a community Anaerobic Digester in Berks County?" Join us to hear more about this topic from a keynote speaker followed by a panel discussion. The celebration continues with an "Agricultural Center Open House". Take the time to visit and meet the folks that serve and support our local farming community in the Conservation District, Penn State Extension, USDA Farm Service Agency and Natural Resources Conservation Services, as well as the Department of Agriculture.
Ag. Literacy Week March 18-22,2019
What is Ag Literacy Week? It is a week to promote the agriculture industry through a designated book chosen by the PA Farm Bureau each year in hopes of engage and increase the knowledge about agriculture. This year's book is "Right This Very Minute" and focuses on table-to-farm concepts. When? The week of March 19- 23, 2018 Where? “Right This Very Minute” will be read by B.A.R.N volunteers in the Greater Reading School District to students in kindergarten to second grade with a fun activity to follow!
